MEET YOUR FARMERS

Head Bucket Washer

adrienne

I wear a lot of hats around here: mom, home renovator, and landscape architect. I love flower farming as much as I love teaching kindergarten. My favorite jobs on the farm are crop planning and planting out the thousands of plant babies I start.

Mr. "Let's make it happen"

patrick

I’m Patrick and I've recently learned that I’m allergic to flowers. As a tech-wizard, I love to help with the business of running a farm. I also manage the stick manager.

stick manager

laila

I’m the stick manager and give myself other important tasks like barking at the neighbors and chasing the birds. I have a big voice but my booty wiggle is even bigger. I’m a good girl and never dig in the garden beds.

I'm new around here and am currently on a performance improvement plan. When I grow up, I'll be a really good farm dog.

Our Story

my roots

Little Button Farm was established in 2022, but the roots of the business have been establishing for decades.

I grew up in Colorado in an unforgiving high-altitude climate. It was hard to grow there, but my grandma always had an impressive garden, fresh lettuce for lunch, and a greenhouse full of tomatoes. To this day, the smell of tomato plants brings me right back to my grandma's greenhouse.

grounded

Growing has always grounded me. When our first baby was born, it was our perennial garden space that kept me from losing myself in postpartum depression. When the COVID pandemic struck, it was the community garden across the street that provided fresh food and a semblance of regular life. When our second baby was born, it was our houseplants that brought me joy.

the dream

We bought our dream home in 2021 and it was a MESS. It had been rented out for almost a decade, most recently to the college rodeo team (you can imagine the parties they had). It had a million problems and so much potential. With two full-time jobs, two little kids, and our friend Google, we renovated the entire house. We are so grateful for our home.

my teachers

For years I had been dreaming of flowers and I finally had the space to make some magic happen. Floret had come on the scene and resources and teachers of cut flower growing were gaining in popularity. Laura from Garden Answer, Joe from Growing a Greener World, and Lisa from the Gardener's Workshop became my late-night friends. They were the voices I listened to during the long nursing nights and the tedious toddler days. Local teachers like Kareen at Broken Ground poured into my dreams and helped me learn to grow in our extremely challenging microclimate. I did inherit the family green thumb, but I've also spent countless hours learning my craft.

we bought a wasteland

Between the drought and a decade of neglect, there was little to no life on our property. We hacked down overgrowth and have spent the last years regenerating the land and creating growing space.

we live in a paradise

Now? We have a farm. A legit we-must-be-insane farm, a what-were-we-thinking amount of work, and a we-are-exhausted-but-it's-worth-it attitude.

join the movement

Our farm is a beacon of the future. Increasingly so, our neighbors are trading acre-wide grass lawns for raised beds and native perennial gardens. Bozeman is celebrating local agriculture and consumers are turning to small farms for food and flowers. As the world becomes more shaky, we can all find peace in our gardens and security in our local economies. Thank you for being part of this movement.

And me? Well I'm happiest when my fingernails are dirty and my arms are full of flowers.
